Information and history on reverse side of plaque: In 1865 Latrobe was in its second decade of existence, a small but thriving community of 800 people. When the Pennsylvania Railroad came through, the town grew and prospered, as did the number of Lutherans. Mr. & Mrs. Michael Weis donated a lot on Weldon Street for the construction of a church and on June 6, 1865 the cornerstone of Trinity was laid. 2005 marks the 140th anniversary of the congregation and of reaching out and sharing the "Good News" with all.
