Mrs. Cohen purchased ready-made hat bodies then trimmed them to the tastes of her customers with ribbons, artificial flowers, feathers and buttons. This shop was one of a new wave of urban, specialized retail stores that catered to middle-class working families. Henry Ford brought this building to Greenfield Village in 1935.
5992 Martha-Mary Chapel, Dearborn, MI. Henry Ford built six non-denominational chapels around the United States in honor of his mother, Mary Litigot Ford, and his mother-in-law, Martha Bryant. This chapel was built in Greenfield Village in 1929 and contains wood from the Bryant Home where Henry Ford and his wife, Clara, were married in 1886. The bell in the belfry was cast by Paul Revere, Jr. Although no regularly scheduled services are held, the chapel is used for weddings and other special programs year-round.
