Information & history on back of plaques:
04-611 New Palz House * New Palz, New York   The stone houses that line Huguenot Street, "the oldest street in America," pay tribute to the French who settled this area in the 17th century.

04-612 Old Dutch Church * Sleepy Hollow, New York   This colonial Dutch style church was built by Frederick Philipse in 1685.  It was immortalized in Washington Irving's story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

04-613 Kingston House, * Kingston, New York   Dutch Colonial homes were built in Kingston during the 17th century.  In 1777 British troops set the town on fire because of its support of the American Revolution.  Fortunitely many of the town's historic homes survived and have been restored.

04-614 Esopus Meadows Lighthouse, * Ulster Park, New York.   Traveling nearly two-thirds the way up the Hudson River by boat you would encounter the Esopus Meadows Lighthouse which was built in 1871 to warn ships of dangerous shallows and mud flats.  It is the only remaining Hudson River lighthouse built of wood.
