Information & history on rear of plaque:
Board Member Antonio J. Palumbo pledged $3.5 million of the projected $10 million cost for a much-needed athletic/recreation/convocation facility, which opened in 1988. With flexible seating for approximately 6,200 people for NCAA Division I basketball, wrestling, and volleyball, the facility also attracts outside concert promoters, who rank it fourth in the nation (just behind the Radio City Music Hall in New York) as a national entertainment center.
