Information & history:
The Amish adopted quilting from their "English" neighbors. Patchwork sections are first cut from patterns made of cardboard and then pieced together with treadle sewing machines since the Amish do not use electricity. Typically geometrical in design, each is then meticulously handquilted by women who are taught the art as young girls.
Travelers through America's Amish country often see colorful quilts hanging on clotheslines outside Amish homes. This vivid spectacle inspired Shelia to create this beautiful line of Amish Quilt reproductions. Each brilliant, 24-Karet gold-plated miniature is patterned after an actual hand-sewn Amish quilt. Approxiamte size is 2-3/4" x 2-1/2".
