Information on rear of plaque:
COK01, Soda Pop Stop; Remember when. . . you got all dressed up to go shopping with your mother? If you were really good, your reward would be a fountain "Coke" from Paly's! You were always fascinated by the white-coated attendants who knew your name and exactly how to combine the syrup, cracked ice and carbonated water which made your favorite treat.
COK02, Refreshing Delivery is a replica of an antique delivery truck, depicting Ice cold Coca-Cola in bottles; candy & gum; from Lota Daves - 2109 E. 8th ST.
COK03, Down Home Flavor; General stores like this still dot the American landscape and in small towns serve as community gathering places where customers can mail a letter, get some gasoline and catch up on the local gossip. Known for having a little bit of everything, there's always a "Coke" machine. Remember when . . . on a hot day, nothing tastes better coming from a frosty green bottle?
COK04, Sign of Good Taste; By 1930, there were nearly 29 million cars on America's highways. Remember when . . . billboards like this one began appearing, beckoning thirsty travelers to stop for "the pause that refreshes?"
COK05, Cover Your Thirst; Remember when . . . your family went for Sunday drives? Traveling along a country road, you laughed when your eyes played tricks on you because of the flickering dappled sunlight. Well off the beaten path, the car may have approached a covered bridge much like this one, painted with the "Coca-Cola" logo. The driver always slowed down because it was cool and shady inside, providing a momentary respite from the bright sun and scenery hurtling by your window. In that moment, you were reminded that you were thursty and it was time for a "Coke."
COK06, Barnyard Refreshment; Remember when . . . you could see barns like this off in the distance froma two-lane highway? A man who lived in your neighborhood made his living by traveling around the country painting barns. He had no family of his own, but when he was home he always welcomed yours to his porch witha cold "Coca-Cola" and a story of the town he'd just seen.
COK12 Country Harmony, Barn. Remember when...before the growth of radio and television, weathered barns located on scenic country roads, displayed artistic advertisements. Although rare, "Coca-Cola" barns can still be found like this one on US Highway 3.
