Information & history on rear of plaques:
FL106 Bailey House, Amelia Island, FL   Was built in 1895, by steamship agent, Effingham Bailey.  This Victorian home is a fine example of Queen Anne architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Today, the Bailey House operates as a bed and breakfast, appointed with period furnishings.

FL107 Southernmost House, Key West, FL.   Perhaps the most famous and well-known of Key West's historic houses, this is a lovely example of a Queen Anne variation on the Victorian theme.  It was constructed over a four year period from 1896-1900, by one of Key West's prominent citizens, Judge J.Vining Harris.  Over the years the house has changed hands and has had a variety of uses.  During the 1940s it was a gambling club, the Casa Cayo Hueso and was frequented by many notables including Walter P.Chrysler.

FL108 The Carlyle, Miami Beach, FL.   Was designed by architects Kiehnel and Elliot, was built in 1939 at 1250 Ocean Drive.  The building features floral ornamentation, striking vertical piers and horizontal lines emphasized by sunshades around the corners.  It is a classic example of the early Art Deco style of architecture.
The movie, the Birdcage, featuring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane was filmed here.

FL109 Lightner Museum, St. Augustine, FL   Built in 1888 by Henry Flagler, this building was once the Alcazar Hotel.  As a partner with John D. Rockefeller in the Standard Oil Company, Flagler was to become Florida's pioneer developer.  The Hotel Alcazar was part of Mr. Flagler's grand plan to establish St. Augustine as the American Riviera.  Today, the Lightner Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

FL110 St. Augustine Jail, St. Augustine, FL   The Old St. Johns County Jail, currently known as The Old Jail, was built on land purchased by Henry Flagler.  Completed in 1891, the jail housed prisoners for over 60 years.  This Victorian Queen Ann style jail is one of the few surviving 19th century jails.  The living quarters for the Sheriff and his family were adjacent to 72 prisoners.  The Old Jail is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

FL112 Hemingway Museum, Key West, FL.   Built in the 1870s, by Asa Tift, the Hemingway House is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Key West.  The house was given to Hemingway and his wife Pauline in 1931, by her Uncle, Gus Pfeiffer.  Hemingway's studio, a former carriage house, was connected to the main house by a catwalk.  It was here that he wrote some of his best known books.  Today the house is occupied by the Hemingway Museum, and many cats and kittens (many of which are descendants from the nearly fifty cats that lived with the Hemingway family).

FL113 Thomas A. Edison Winter Home, Fort Myers, FL   Designed by Thomas Alva Edison, this was one of the first "pre-fab" homes.  All the lumber was pre-cut and shipped on two boats from New York and Boston to Fort Myers.  Edison brought his own generators to power his new ribbon filament light bulbs which were first turned on March 27, 1887.
