Information & History:LWC01 Tidalholm - Edgar Fripp House, Beaufort, SC. Edgar Fripp reportedly built this large Italinate style frame house as his summer home. Owned by his brother, James Fripp, the house served as Union Hospital #7 during the Civil War. From the 1930s until 1974 "Tidalholm" was used as a guest house bringing many artists, authors, professors, and statesmen to Beaufort. Tidalholm" was extensively altered after the "great hurricane" and restored in 1974 as a private residence with its original air of charm and gracious living.
