Information & History:
PSL01 Donnelly House, Mount Dora, FL. Built in 1893, the Donnelly House had a commanding view of Lake Dora and the town. John Phillip Donnelly came to Florida from Pittsburgh in 1879, and fell instantly in love with the view. John Donnelly married Mrs. Annie McDonald Stone in 1881, after boarding a short time in one of her homes. The Stone name brought with it a large portion of the surrounding area which is now the center of the city. Today, the Donnelly House is owned by the Masonic Lodge and is open to the public during special occasions.
PSL02 Pastel Blue Lady, Salinas, CA. this petite Queen Anne was originally built in 1898 for only $2,500. The incised ornamentation, shaped siding shingles, and fretwork are accentuated by the delicate paint design and color combination.
PSL03 John C. Reichert House, Tipton, IA. Built in 1883, this impressive house was conceived by New York architect S.B. Reed and is said to resemble the work of the Palliser Brothers. The Square towers and divided walls appeared soon after Norman Shaw's Old English themes showcased at the 1876 Philadelphia Exposition.
PSL04 Blanche & Ethel's Tea Room, Eldora, IA. This lovely Queen anne was built in 1898. A combination of fishscale shingles, gingerbread and elaborate millwork along its eaves make this a fine example of American Victorian.
PSL05 Miller House, Tipton, IA. This home was built in 1898 by M.H. Miller, a wealthy banker. Elements such as a Palladian window in the third-floor gable and a scrolled pediment over the porch add a Colonial air to this Victorian.
