Information & history on rear of piece:

STO01 Seven Arts Gift Shop, 44 Main Street, Stockbridge, MA  This fanciful Queen Ann, known as Bramans Shop in the early 1900's was built in 1892.  It can be seen in famous American painting of the Stockbridge Main Street.  Decorated for Christmas, it is one of the best of New England's traditions.

STO02 Stockbridge Market & General Store, 40 Main Street, Stockbridge, MA.  As depicted in the famous American painting of Main Street, the Stockbridge Market is a charming Colonial Revival structure, surrounded by classic 1950's automobiles.  Built in 1927, it is still standing on Main Street.  The store is decorated in the tradition of an old fashioned New England Christmas.

STO03 Country Store, 38 Main Street, Stockbridge, MA.  Located in the heart of Main Street, the Stockbridge Country Store is decked out in greenery and lights for the Christmas season.  When built in 1825, the building served as the town's tailor shop.  It now carries all the goodies New Englanders need to get through a cold snowy winter.

STO04 Town Offices Building, 34 main Street, Stockbridge, MA.  This brick and terra cotta Queen Anne, with tower and stepped gables, was built in 1884.  While no longer housing the town offices, this charming structure with snow capped ledges enhances the image of picturesque Main Street.

STO05 Housatonic Bank, 32 Main Street, Stockbridge, MA.  This Federal style bank was built in 1825 with locally harvested building materials.  The bricks were made with clay dug from the nearby Housatonic and the marble trim was quarried in West Stockbridge.  The entry is accented with evergreen garland throughout the holiday season.

STO06 Library, Stockbridge, MA.   The Stockbridge Library was built by JC Goodrich in 1868 and was a group effort by the townspeople.  A local shopkeeper donated the land with the promise that the new building wouldn't block her view of Main Street.  The townspeople all donated along with one Mr. Jackson for whom the building was originally named.

STO07 Red Lion Inn, 30 Main St., Stockbridge, MA.   The Inn is one of the few remaining American inns in continuous use since the 18th century.  Immortalized in a famous American painting of Main Stree, the Inn epitomizes New England Tradition.  Stockbridge residents, Jack and Jane Fitzpatrick, bought the property in 1968.  They moved Country Curtains their successful mail order company into the building and continued the cycle of additions and renovations that have characterized the Inn since its earliest years.
The Inn has had several names over the years, but a red lion has always graced its sign and the name has been used since around 1900.  Among noted guest are five presidents: Cleveland, McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, Coolidge and Franklin Roosevelt.
