Information & History:

TN01 Hermitage, Nashville, TN.   Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United Stats, and his wife Rachel moved into the Hermitage in 1818.  Located just east of Nashville, the home is one of America's most famous residences.
The mansion is an example of early Victorian architecture but has other design influences, most notably that of Greek Revival with its six grand columns that were added to the facade in a renovation following an 1834 fire.
Extensive restoration work on the historic home and a visitor center were both completed in 1989.  The mansion and grounds are now a favorite Tennesse attraction.

TN02 Rattle and Snap, Columbia, Tennessee.   Rattle and Snap Plantation was built circa 1842-1845 by George Washington Polk and his wife, Sallie Hilliard.  The Plantation was built on land Polk inherited from his father, Revolutionary War hero, Colonel William Polk of North Carolina.  Rattle and Sanp stands as a monument to the Antebellum South with a Greek Revival facade featuring Corinthian columns.  The mansion is listed as a National Historic Landmark and is now a private home open to the public.
